Throughout his career so far, Jacob’s had some unique experiences with managing distributed workforces. Jacob is a certified Environmental Professional working as the Supervisor of Technical and Stormwater Operations at the City of Barrie in Ontario. He’s obtained a college diploma from Fleming College as Environmental Technician, a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental and Resources Studies from Trent University and a Master of Science in Environmental Practice from Royal Roads University, specializing in Environmental Protection.

Since 2010, Jacob has worked at the City of Barrie in several roles including Environmental Officer, Senior Environmental Officer, Senior Operations Technologist and now as the Supervisor of Technical and Stormwater Operations. He’s had the opportunity to sit as the CUPE Local 2380 Union President, advocating for members of workforces across 5 municipalities in Central Ontario. As the current Program Advisory Committee Chair for Georgian College’s Environmental Technician/Technology Program he’s helping steer the development of the skills needed of graduates to meet industry needs. Jacob is excited about advancing sustainable solutions to managing the impact of urban runoff which brings about new work, the task of re-focusing internal workforces to manage workloads in an ever-evolving world of new technologies.
