Tracy Dannell

Tracy Dannell, Hons. B.Sc. (Biology), EP, R.P.Bio brings over two decades of diverse experience to the environmental profession, contributing to projects across Canada, the United States, and internationally in both public and private sectors. Her work spans contaminated sites, water and natural resources, land management, sustainability, and strategic policy, reflecting the wide spectrum of opportunities available within the EP community.

An EP since 2012 and is a Registered Professional Biologist, Tracy is recognized for both her technical expertise and her dedication to advancing the profession. She has presented at numerous industry conferences and workshops, sharing knowledge that strengthens the environmental community and encourages cross-sector collaboration. She actively mentors women in STEM and emerging environmental professionals, partnering with ECO Canada and other technical networks to foster collaboration and raise awareness of the EP designation.

As a neurodivergent professional, Tracy demonstrates remarkable resilience, turning challenges into strengths and using each as an opportunity to grow as a professional and as a person. She consistently chooses to give back, volunteering her time on commissions, advisory councils, and community environmental stewardship initiatives, while inspiring others to do the same.

Tracy’s career illustrates the many pathways an environmental professional can take — technical, policy, community, and leadership — and shows how commitment to the environment and to the professional community can create lasting impact. Her expertise, leadership, and service make her a respected and inspiring figure for EPs at all stages of their careers.

Land Acknowledgment

In the spirit of respect, reciprocity, and truth, we acknowledge that we live, work, and gather on the traditional territories of the peoples of Treaty 7, including the Blackfoot Confederacy—comprising the Siksika, Kainai, and Piikani Nations—as well as the Îyâxe Nakoda and Tsuut’ina Nations.

This land, known as Moh’kinsstis in the Blackfoot language and encompassing what is now Districts 5 and 6, is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3, within the historical Northwest Métis homeland.

We recognize and honour the deep connection these Nations have to the land, and we are grateful for the opportunity to share in its stewardship.

As we continue our work, we commit to learning from Indigenous knowledge systems, uplifting Indigenous voices, and fostering relationships rooted in equity, understanding, and reconciliation.
