Clifton Samoiloff

Clifton is a Senior Environmental Scientist, Project Manager, and Certified Environmental Auditor (EPCEA)) with the Environment business line of AECOM Canada ULC (AECOM) in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Clifton obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology from the University of Manitoba in 1993, and a degree in Technology Management from Red River College in 1997. Clifton spent the early part of his career working in the analytical chemical and toxicology testing industry, and from 1996 to 2004 assumed several roles in laboratory facilities located in Manitoba and British Columbia. In 2005 Clifton entered environmental consulting with Golder Associates in North Vancouver, British Columbia, and in 2006 he returned to Winnipeg to take on the role of Senior Environmental Scientist with UMA Engineering (currently AECOM).

In his role with UMA Engineering, Clifton was assigned the responsibility of developing the environmental assessment and environmental compliance auditing capabilities within the Winnipeg office, a role which resulted in Clifton joining the Eco Canada EP® Designations Program and obtaining his EP® Environmental Auditor certification in 2012. Throughout his 19 years of environmental consulting, Clifton has led and provided technical support on a wide range of projects requiring a broad base of skill sets, including:

  • environmental assessment and permitting;
  • aquatic and terrestrial studies;
  • environmental management systems and environmental compliance auditing;
  • and environmental chemistry and toxicology.

Clifton has also played a key role in projects requiring public engagement and Indigenous consultation, leading community meetings, public open house events, and liaison with various government agencies. He has been involved in projects covering a wide variety of different sectors, including mining, manufacturing, pulp and paper, energy, pipelines and transmission lines, water treatment facilities, waste disposal grounds, and infrastructure projects.

Clifton is a regular participant at local ECO Canada events which includes the role of Keynote Speaker at the ECO Canada Tour – Bridging Cities, Building Futures event held in Winnipeg in 2024. He actively engages with and provides mentorship to other environmental professionals, including fellow ECO Canada members and non-members interested in the ECO Canada programs or pursuing a career in the environmental sector.
