Sandra Tavares

As an EP(EMSLA) since 2008, Sandra Tavares, B.Sc., M.Sc., has conducted 1st and 3rd party audits across ISO 14001 Environmental and ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems, Drinking Water Quality Management Standard, Sustainable Winegrowing Certification and Responsible Distribution Programs, throughout Canada and the U.S.

Her commitment to environmental stewardship and Sustainability inspired the creation of Staarsoft® Sustainability Strategy Software, a platform that transforms audit data into actionable insights and long-term impact.

Since 2013, she has also held EP – Sustainability Certification and, since 2015, she has been an EcoCanada Licensed Trainer, instructing hundreds of professionals across industries on how to navigate ISO standards and address the scope and complexity of Sustainability, with confidence. Sandra also frequently presents on these topics at national and international conferences (Automotive Industry Action Group Corporate Responsibility Summits, Fashion Takes Action’s World Ethical Apparel Roundtable, Ontario Craft Wine, Canect, Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education, Canadian Society of Safety Engineering, etc.).

Sandra’s career reflects a dedication to both Innovation and Community. She has helped to shape University, College, and Industry Organisations’ Sustainability programs, and served on national advisory committees influencing ISO Standards and environmental policy.

Sandra brings energy, clarity, and purpose to every project, helping organizations transform auditing from an obligation into an opportunity.

Land Acknowledgment

In the spirit of respect, reciprocity, and truth, we acknowledge that we live, work, and gather on the traditional territories of the peoples of Treaty 7, including the Blackfoot Confederacy—comprising the Siksika, Kainai, and Piikani Nations—as well as the Îyâxe Nakoda and Tsuut’ina Nations.

This land, known as Moh’kinsstis in the Blackfoot language and encompassing what is now Districts 5 and 6, is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3, within the historical Northwest Métis homeland.

We recognize and honour the deep connection these Nations have to the land, and we are grateful for the opportunity to share in its stewardship.

As we continue our work, we commit to learning from Indigenous knowledge systems, uplifting Indigenous voices, and fostering relationships rooted in equity, understanding, and reconciliation.
