Latifa Hamadache

I’m privileged to serve as Head of Biosafety and Industrial Hygiene at Sanofi, Canada’s largest biomanufacturing facility that not only employs me but empowers me. I started my EPt program with ECO Canada by completing the NYGEP 2020 cohort, then specializing in Health and Safety and Sustainability at ECO, contributing to the environmental sector within my workplace by leading robust cross functional programs, minimizing the risk of personal exposure to health hazards, and accidental release of hazardous substances to the environment, while mentoring numerous young professionals along the way. In addition, bringing sustainability solutions such as the reusable cutlery program on site for takeouts was a success, because as we all know, when we say throw away, there is no “away”..

I’m also grateful to have participated in ECO Competencies development in various topics in 2022.

Environmental stewardship is an ever evolving quest, and my hope is to see more people shine with their ideas through open innovation and entrepreneurship, guided by ECO.

Land Acknowledgment

In the spirit of respect, reciprocity, and truth, we acknowledge that we live, work, and gather on the traditional territories of the peoples of Treaty 7, including the Blackfoot Confederacy—comprising the Siksika, Kainai, and Piikani Nations—as well as the Îyâxe Nakoda and Tsuut’ina Nations.

This land, known as Moh’kinsstis in the Blackfoot language and encompassing what is now Districts 5 and 6, is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3, within the historical Northwest Métis homeland.

We recognize and honour the deep connection these Nations have to the land, and we are grateful for the opportunity to share in its stewardship.

As we continue our work, we commit to learning from Indigenous knowledge systems, uplifting Indigenous voices, and fostering relationships rooted in equity, understanding, and reconciliation.
