Ian has 24 years of experience in conducting, managing, directing and reviewing Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs) and approval compliance projects. Ian has a thorough knowledge of currently accepted ESIA methodologies, practices and protocols. Ian has been involved in the development of ESIA systems which have been successfully implemented on projects around the world.
Over the course of his career Ian has participated in over 25 large scale commercial project ESIAs, 11 in a senior management role including as an expert witness at public regulatory hearings. Ian has a background in terrestrial ecology and has managed and directed projects involving numerous technical disciplines including fisheries, groundwater, surface water, geographic information systems, heritage resources, stakeholder consultation, air quality, noise and visual aesthetics.
Currently, Ian is Hatch’s Regional Environment and Sustainability Lead for BC and the Prairies, a growing team of environmental specialists engaged across the project life cycle in the Infrastructure, Mining, and Energy sectors.
