2023 Community Impact Award Winner

Established in 1992, the Friends of Fish Creek is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation, protection, and enhancement of the Fish Creek Provincial Park in Alberta. This organization understands the park’s ecological significance and its role in providing recreational and educational opportunities for the community. Recognizing the need for a collaborative approach, the group works in partnership with Alberta Parks to achieve its goals.

Throughout the years, Friends of Fish Creek has initiated a variety of programs that not only address environmental concerns but also encourage community engagement. These programs range from water quality monitoring and habitat restoration projects to educational courses and guided tours. One of their flagship initiatives, the “Learning Naturally” program, seeks to educate students about the park’s diverse ecosystem.

Additionally, the organization understands the importance of community involvement and regularly hosts events to raise awareness and garner support. These events, coupled with the efforts of countless volunteers, play a pivotal role in ensuring the park’s sustainability for future generations. By harnessing the power of community, the Friends of Fish Creek continue to champion one of Alberta’s cherished natural landmarks.
