Harley Hutchinson

Harley Hutchinson has been a certified Environmental Professional, EP(CEA) with ECO Canada, and its predecessor Environmental Auditing Association of Canada, since 1998. During his career, he worked in varied sectors developing auditing programs to support environmental management systems (EMS) – such as mining, pulp and paper, airports, utilities, and food processing industries, as well as an overseas oil and gas producer.

Since joining the City of Calgary in 2001, Harley has worked on implementing a corporate-wide ISO 14001-registered management system, including the internal compliance auditing program. Harley has supported the EP community in many ways over the years by proctoring exams, chairing technical committees and contributing presentations at annual ECO Canada conferences. He also served on the Advisory Committee for the Environmental Technology diploma program at SAIT Polytechnic for over 10 years and was a frequent guest speaker for the EMS and Auditing course. Harley has provided mentoring to several students as well as attending forums such as career fairs and SAIT Industry Night to provide insights on future career prospects.

He has also served on technical committees developing guidelines related to applying environmental management principles to municipal infrastructure, sponsored by the National Research Council and Federation of Canadian Municipalities.
