Mary Livera

Mary Livera currently serves George Brown College as the Director of Sustainability. She brings significant sustainability experience from her various progressive roles at Bell Media, most recently as Senior Specialist Environment, Health, and Safety. She is an ECO Canada certified Environmental Professional with a history of leading and developing sustainability and decarbonization strategies, implementing and maintaining environmental management systems as well as occupational health and safety programs.  

Over the past decade, Mary led the certification process of Bell Media’s environmental management system under ISO 14001 and 50001 standards, supported the environmental due diligence procedures for major telecom acquisitions and divestments, including Astral Media and developed numerous occupational health and safety programs supporting the safety of journalists.  

In her current role, at George Brown College, Mary leads the institution’s inaugural sustainability team in the development of decarbonization strategies and a renewed sustainability plan with a focus on intersectional environmentalism.  

Mary holds a Master of Business Administration in Sustainable Commerce from the University of Guelph, a Post-graduate Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety from Toronto Metropolitan University, a Post Graduate Certificate in Environmental Control from Sheridan College, and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from the University of Toronto.
