Doug Koroluk

I am an EP from Calgary, Alberta, and I work at the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER). My educational background includes an M.Sc. (Sustainable Energy Development or SEDV) from the University of Calgary in 2017, a B.Eng. (Chemical) from Dalhousie University and an Engineering Diploma from St. Francis Xavier University.

My current role is as a Senior Industrial Engineer at the AER where I have worked since 2017. Before that, I had over 20 years of experience in the upstream oil and gas sector.

When not working, I enjoy keeping up with current affairs, hiking, skiing, and traveling. I also volunteered as the secretary for a local community theatre group in Calgary. In addition, I do some volunteering at the University of Calgary surrounding the SEDV program. I am a mentor in the University of Calgary BMO Mentorship program, the SEDV mentorship program at the School of Public Policy and I have volunteered for the in-house mentorship program at the AER.

I am also a Senator at the University of Calgary. I received the ‘New Public Servant Award for Excellence’ in 2022 from the Institute of Public Administration Canada (IPAC) Alberta chapter and was a recipient of one of the AER’s 2023 Vision and Values Excellence Awards.

Land Acknowledgment

In the spirit of respect, reciprocity, and truth, we acknowledge that we live, work, and gather on the traditional territories of the peoples of Treaty 7, including the Blackfoot Confederacy—comprising the Siksika, Kainai, and Piikani Nations—as well as the Îyâxe Nakoda and Tsuut’ina Nations.

This land, known as Moh’kinsstis in the Blackfoot language and encompassing what is now Districts 5 and 6, is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3, within the historical Northwest Métis homeland.

We recognize and honour the deep connection these Nations have to the land, and we are grateful for the opportunity to share in its stewardship.

As we continue our work, we commit to learning from Indigenous knowledge systems, uplifting Indigenous voices, and fostering relationships rooted in equity, understanding, and reconciliation.
