Mackenzie Smith is an Environmental Scientist and Biologist in Training at Active Earth, with a B.Sc. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from UBC – Okanagan. Mackenzie has experience in agriculture research, regulatory affairs, environmental monitoring, contaminated sites, remediation, and soil management. Previously, Mackenzie teamed up with Steven Boyce (Principal, Active Earth) at the BCEIA BEST Conference in Whistler, BC to speak on the challenges, opportunities, myths and realities of a multi-generational workplace. Mackenzie is also a member of the Emerging Professionals Advisory Group for GeoEnviroPro, a training group tailored to the environmental industry by some of the fields leading experts. Having been a part of and observing many successful mentorship relationships, Mackenzie is keen to facilitate more mentorship opportunities and knowledge transfer between senior and emerging professionals in the environmental industry.
