Mathieu Côté (he/him)

Director, Operations Program | CanREA

As CanREA’s Director of the Operations Program, Mathieu (or Matt) Côté leads the Operations Caucus, as well as all its attendant committees and working groups. As such, Matt’s goal is to provide Canadian operators of Solar/Wind/Storage facilities the same policy, networking, and business opportunities that the rest of CanREA provides to the development people.

Whether it’s site operations, asset management, Heath and Safety or workforce development, Matt’s your guy! Matt comes to CanREA with ten years of industry experience, having worked for a Wind/Solar/Hydrogen developer in a business development role in France, as well as roles as Customer Relations Manager, Commercial Manager and Managing Director for a major OEM in the United Kingdom, Quebec, and Nova Scotia.

He started his career commissioning the MAPLE Nuclear reactors, designed to produce medical isotopes. He has a Co-op Physics degree from Dalhousie University in Halifax, NS. In his spare time, he attempts marathons and wrangles a precocious 5-year-old son. Matt is a proud Franco-Ontarian based in Montreal, living the urban, car-free lifestyle.

Land Acknowledgment

In the spirit of respect, reciprocity, and truth, we acknowledge that we live, work, and gather on the traditional territories of the peoples of Treaty 7, including the Blackfoot Confederacy—comprising the Siksika, Kainai, and Piikani Nations—as well as the Îyâxe Nakoda and Tsuut’ina Nations.

This land, known as Moh’kinsstis in the Blackfoot language and encompassing what is now Districts 5 and 6, is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3, within the historical Northwest Métis homeland.

We recognize and honour the deep connection these Nations have to the land, and we are grateful for the opportunity to share in its stewardship.

As we continue our work, we commit to learning from Indigenous knowledge systems, uplifting Indigenous voices, and fostering relationships rooted in equity, understanding, and reconciliation.
